Campus reveiw
A-level Results Day is an important milestone for students across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The 2026 results show a strong overall performance. In England, 9.7% of A-level entries achieved A*, while 28.7% received an A or A*. Northern Ireland recorded 30.7% of entries at A or A*, with Wales at 29.6%.

University admissions have also reached a record level. 262,820 UK 18-year-olds have secured university places, an increase of 3% compared with last year.

Another notable development is the changing popularity of subjects. Maths continues to lead, while economics has risen to fifth place. Engineering and technology courses have also recorded substantial growth in university acceptances.

For students who missed their expected grades, Clearing remains an important alternative route to higher education.
