Crystal Hill Investigation: Timeline and Findings

The investigation into Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Crystal Hill began after the district placed her on paid leave in June 2026.



Hill returned to her position in August. On September 22, the school board voted 5–4 to terminate her contract.

The investigation report released that day stated that investigators did not find evidence of improper conduct by Hill. It did, however, identify areas where CMS could improve personnel decisions, staffing management and workplace culture.
