Coding bootcamps continue to attract people who want to develop programming skills without committing immediately to a traditional computer science degree.

But what actually makes a bootcamp worth the investment?

The Campus Review's 2026 guide compares 10 programs, including General Assembly, Hack Reactor, Tech Elevator, Le Wagon, Codesmith, App Academy and Flatiron School.



A useful way to compare them is by asking:

Does the program provide meaningful projects?

Is the curriculum aligned with current developer skills?

How much instructor or mentor support is available?

Does career support extend beyond resume writing?

Are employment outcomes clearly documented?

The last question is especially important. Current industry comparisons warn learners to examine how placement statistics are calculated and whether the data is independently verified.

A coding bootcamp can provide structure and accountability, but it isn't a substitute for continued practice, portfolio development and interview preparation.
