Is IQ Enough to Define Intelligence?

The subject of extremely high IQ scores often creates an interesting debate.

Can one number really determine who is the most intelligent person in the world?

The Campus Review explores ten individuals associated with exceptionally high reported IQ scores, including Terence Tao, Christopher Hirata, Sho Yano, Marilyn vos Savant and Garry Kasparov.



Their areas of achievement are very different. Mathematics, physics, medicine, chess, writing and other disciplines all appear in their stories.

This raises an important question for discussion:

Should intelligence be measured primarily through standardized testing, or should achievement and creativity also be considered?

IQ tests can provide useful information about reasoning and other cognitive abilities. However, they don't fully capture emotional intelligence, creativity, leadership or practical problem-solving.

For students and educators, this is an especially interesting topic because academic performance and intellectual potential are not necessarily identical.
