Resume Writing: What Should Candidates Focus On?

Campus reveiw
One useful way to approach resume writing is to think from the recruiter's perspective.

Can someone quickly identify your current role, experience, skills and relevant achievements?

If the answer is unclear, the resume probably needs restructuring.

Standard section headings such as Work Experience, Education and Skills can make the document easier to navigate. ATS guidance also recommends simple layouts and relevant keywords from the job description.

Another important point is evidence.

Rather than writing only about responsibilities, explain contributions and outcomes wherever possible. Numbers, percentages, project scope and other specific evidence can make experience more concrete.

The Campus Review's resume writing guide covers these principles along with practical advice for improving resume structure and content.
