The agency identified the man arrested as Palakkad resident Riyas Abubakar alias Abu Dujana. “He has disclosed that he has been following speeches/videos of Zaharan Hashim… for more than a year and has also followed the speeches of (Islamic preacher) Zakir Naik. जांचकर्ताओं को शक है कि हाशिम ने श्रीलंका के संगठन नेशनल तौहीद जमात (NTJ) से अलग होकर अपना संगठन बना लिया था. NTJ को श्रीलंका ने बम धमाकों का जिम्‍मेदार ठहराया था. एक सुरक्षा अधिकारी ने इंडियन एक्‍सप्रेस से कहा, “नए समूह का नाम नेशन ऑफ तौहीद जमात रखा गया. उसने (हाशिम) करीब 35 युवाओं को साथ जोड़ा. संदेह है कि ये वही लोग हैं जिन्‍होंने हमले को अंजाम दिया.”
