Students should also consider their musical specialization, audition format, faculty, ensemble opportunities, practice facilities, location, financial aid and the type of academic environment they want.



The Campus Review's 2026 guide examines 10 prominent U.S. institutions, ranging from Juilliard and Curtis to Berklee, USC Thornton, Indiana Jacobs, Eastman and Rice Shepherd.

The schools differ considerably in curriculum and institutional structure. That makes individual fit especially important.
