The world's highest IQ rankings are full of fascinating names—but there's more to the story than a number.

Terence Tao, Marilyn vos Savant, Christopher Hirata and YoungHoon Kim are frequently mentioned in discussions about exceptionally high IQ scores.


But different tests use different scoring methods, making extreme scores difficult to compare. Guinness World Records also retired its highest-IQ category in 1990.
